Empathy Atlas
Terms of use
Last updated July 2026
These terms cover your use of Empathy Atlas and its experiences, including Liberation Lines. By using the site you agree to them. The product is in active development, so these terms will grow with it.
Your stories are yours
You keep ownership of the lines and stories you contribute. By sharing a line you give us permission to display it on the atlas according to the audience, precision, and name-visibility settings you choose. You can change those settings, or remove a line, at any time.
Using the atlas well
- Add only content you have the right to share.
- Do not submit unlawful, hateful, or harassing content.
- Do not share someone else’s private information without their consent. A line maps a family’s history — share it in a way the people in it would want.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or misuse the service.
Communities
Communities are led by their organizers. A community lead can remove a line shared to their community. Removing a line from a community never deletes your personal line — only you can do that.
The service is provided as is
Empathy Atlas is offered on an “as is” basis while it is being built. We do our best to keep it working and accurate, but we cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Changes
We may update the service and these terms as the project evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
